Largest UK wholesaler of books to retail, internet and library sectors.Below is the feedback supplied by John Garrould from Bertram Group, after the implementation of X-Resize & X-Analysis. 1. What problem/issue were you facing that caused you to need a solution such as X-Analysis ? The ISBN product identifier used in the publishing industry since the 70’s is being expanded into a full 13 digit EAN13 from 1/1/2007. The field therefore needed to be expanded in millions of lines of RPG, DDS, displays and report. Similar expansion projects also carried out for 6 other legacy fields which were no longer adequate to support the increase volume of business. Improve the speed of analysis for ongoing projects through use of X-Analysis. 2. How was X-Analysis able to solve this issue? X-Analysis creates a detailed field level cross-reference for the application. This feeds into X-Resize which then automatically converts RPG, DDS and CL for the increased field size. We had some manual tidying up to do but the toolkit saved us about 80% of the time it would have taken to do the job manually. This allowed us to spend more time testing, which is where the human can really add value to the project. 3. How helpful and easy was X-Analysis to use? X-Analysis is very easy to use and I can’t imagine how we’d work without it now. It is essential for ongoing analysis. X-resize has a steeper learning curve but the effort quickly pays off. 4. What are the additional benefits did you get using X-Analysis? Analysis time drastically cut and better more accurate analysis. Recommendations to other potential/existing X-Analysis users: All I can say is that if I had to do the same project again on another site X-Analysis would be my first choice.
