Scola is the French subsidiary of DANFOSS GROUP and has gained worldwide recognition as a leading supplier of taps, valves and other fittings necessary to the control of moving fluids. The whole of Scola's production is based on Chalon sur Saone and Crissey in Burgundy and it is distributed through a worldwide network of subsidiaries and distributors - nearly 70% of the 200 MF turnover is exported out of France. Scola employs 200 people in the world, of which 140 work in Chalon and Crissey. Scola chose X-Analysis to help them maintain legacy software and to provide them with tools for managing new systems development. This was an essential part of its ISO 9001 program, and enabled them to integrate new DB/2 and Client/Server applications onto legacy AS/400 systems. Controlled DevelopmentMr. Philippe Bonnard, the Data Processing Manager, explains, "Our problem was to maintain several hundred existing COBOL programs, developed year after year. We wanted to keep control of our applications and we decided to install X-Analysis by Databorough. The choice of this software was made because of its modularity, its openness, its ease of use, and because of its high level of functionality. An efficient on-site training scheme based on our applications allowed us to profit from the supplier's experience and to be operational immediately." RedocumentationThe main objective was to rebuild application documentation from existing COBOL source code so further evolution would be easier. "We wanted to modernize our code, apply standards and normalize our DB. All these functions were carried out efficiently by using X-Analysis." |
