CHALLENGE: Fiserv CBS Worldwide delivers end-to-end business and technology solutions for retail financial organizations, consumer finance institutions and credit unions throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada and the United States. They enable almost 300 financial institutions to deliver integrated solutions for managing the entire customer lifecycle from core banking to multi-channel customer contact and data warehousing. Fiserv CBS Worldwide sought to enhance productivity and increase understanding of its core banking application. This way, when problems arose or enhancements were required, code could be quickly located and modified. The company also needed to obtain comprehensive, consistent and up-to date documentation of an extremely large and complex system.

SOLUTION:

Databorough Services recommended that Fiserv CBS Worldwide install X-Analysis on its System i* core banking system. This would provide Fiserv with a very detailed and interactive document repository of its RPG based systems. X-Analysis not only increased quality and timeliness in development and support, but also enhanced productivity and increased understanding of the core banking environment.

X-Analysis combines highly detailed cross-referencing with high-level analysis and documentation, making it an ideal tool for IBM System i application design recovery, analysis and documentation. Some of the tool’s advantages include data modeling, structured English source-code views, application subdivision, static project document wizards, data analysis and business rule logic analysis. Malcolm Sharpe, senior technical programmer at Fiserv CBS Worldwide, was particularly impressed with X-Analysis’ easy-to-use and highly interactive graphical structure. Both System i programmers as well as those with little to no programming expertise can use X-Analysis. This ease-of-use feature sets X-Analysis apart from other programmer-oriented tools and standard System i cross-referencing features. Additionally, X-Analysis is capable of accurately documenting even the largest systems and now functions as a plugin to WebSphere* Development Studio Client and other Eclipse-based editors.
