This product contains very powerful impact analysis capabilities at both an object and a variable level. The variable level impact analysis can track where used information starting from a single field or variable, through all iterations and associated variables/fields and down through the entire call stack of a system with a single click. It can reduce analysis tasks done with older tools or manually down from weeks into seconds with absolute accuracy and confidence.
Interactive Graphical diagrams abstract the implementation of the system to help visualize and easily understand the design for even non-system i users. Users can drill down through any of these diagrams to see high level information and details simultaneously, also facilitating powerful go-anywhere-from-anywhere navigation capabilities while analyzing.
Static documentation can be automatically generated from X-Analysis into Word and Visio. Any graphical diagram, list or structured table can be exported individually or via a project documentation wizard which builds an entire set of system Word documents automatically with contents and index pages dynamically built. This can be over entire systems, individual objects, or applications defined by users in this module. Objects, fields and business rules can be annotated with MS word and stored centrally for other users to view and integrated into the static documentation created using the wizards.
Users can create logical application areas using their own selected objects and then allowing Application Overview and Documentation automatically brings in any related objects based upon user-defined rules. These applications areas are integrated functionally to the rest of the X-Analysis suite for documentation, analysis or reengineering subset functionality.
