DB2 Web Query relies upon the meta-data layer which describes and maps the existing application database. Adding all the meta-data information about the database is a manual and labor intensive process, especially for large complex databases typical of system i applications.

X-WebQuery automatically builds the meta-data layer for DB2 Web Query, including all of the file to file foreign key or relational information which is extracted using Databorough's data modeling engine, used by companies worldwide. This means users can start using some of the basic and more advanced features of DB2 Web Query instantly, without any need for labor intensive manually setting up of the relational meta-data. On top of this, an entire ready-to-use set of standard linked queries is automatically built using the generated meta data. These auto generated queries use the relational information to bring in descriptor information to standard queries, as well as linking individual queries so users can drill-down through the hierarchical structure of the business data, like any Business Intelligence application. All done automatically. The generated queries can then be used as is, or as templates for customized queries for more specific user requirements.
